This guide is intended to help setup your SCT or BullyDog device for datalogging.   If you are getting the ‘Software Out of Date’ error on your device, you will need to follow this guide.

All Brew City Boost Calibrations are accompanied by a Datalog Configuration File.  This config file acts as a template which selects the parameters that are to be logged and for our purposes it exists in two formats, either a .cf4 or .dlx.  The main difference being that a dlx file is the file type that exists on your device, and it is created by way of exporting the cf4 file.  In most cases there are no issues loading or using the provided config file, however there are times when software versions are out of sync and may require these files to be recreated on the users end.

Creating a Datalog Configuration File:

  • Go to and download the latest version of LiveLink Gen-II datalogging software.  It’s Free!
  • Once downloaded, launch LiveLink and then select ‘I want to create a datalog configration file’.







  • On the next screen select the radio button next to ‘Vehicle is available and it is currently connected using a device’









  • Connect your SCT or BullyDog device to PC via the supplied USB cable and also to your vehicles OBD port.  Then Click ‘Check Communication’, all the fields will become populated after a moment.  It may be necessary to return the vehicle to stock calibration prior to this step to get a valid Strategy.










  • After a few moments you will be presented with the PID items select screen.  Select the desired PIDs and/or DMRs and then click ‘Configure Datalog’ in the lower right corner.  Give you datalog configuration a description and a name when saving the file.
  • Your datalog configuration you just created will now open in LiveLink.  You can now datalog directly using the software or you can click ‘Export DLF/DLX’ to directly export the datalog configuration to your device, you will be given another opportunity to name it at that time.





Below is a list of the PIDs and DMRs we are interested in for datalogging purposes.  Depending on your vehicle and specific Strategy code, you may or may not have access to all the items listed.  Please use the list below when creating your datalog configuration.


  • Accel Pedal Position RelativeIndicates where your foot is.
  • Boost in PSIboost pressure in PSI.  Note that this value will typically clip around 22.48psi.
  • Engine coolant temp FEngine Coolant temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Fuel rear pressureHigh Pressure Fuel Rail Pressure in megapascals (MPa) – 1MPa = 148PSI.
  • Gear commandedGear the transmission has commanded.
  • Intake air temp2 FCharge temps read from the manifold.
  • Knock Sensorthe amount of degrees knock feedback is retarding (positive values) or advancing (negative values) spark.
  • Loadunitless value used to interpret load based on Volumetric Efficiency.
  • Long term fuel trim bank 1Long term value for fuel trims.
  • Measured afr bank 1The actual lambda measured from bank 1 (passenger side).
  • Measured afr bank 2The actual lambda measured from bank 2 (drivers side).
  • Octane Adjust RatioOAR displays a value that inferers fuel quality.  The range is from +1 (low octane fuel) to -1 (higher octane fuel).
