How to Use the SCT BDX Tuner — Step by Step Guide
Published by the BCB Team | August 2022
The SCT BDX is a powerful tuning device, but first-time users sometimes find it intimidating. Here's our complete walkthrough from unboxing to your first tune flash.
Step 1: Download and Install SCT Cloud
Install the SCT Cloud app on your phone (iOS or Android). Create an account and pair it with your BDX via Bluetooth. The BDX will prompt you to update its firmware — always do this before your first use.
Step 2: Load Your Custom Tune File
We emailed custom tune files (.cef format) after purchase. Open the file on your phone and select "Send to Device" in the SCT Cloud app. The tune will transfer to the BDX via Bluetooth in about 30 seconds.
Step 3: Read Your Stock Tune
Before flashing the custom tune, ALWAYS read and save your stock calibration. Plug the BDX into the OBD-II port (under the dash, driver side) and select "Vehicle" → "Read Vehicle." This takes about 2 minutes and saves your factory tune as a backup.
Step 4: Flash the Custom Tune
Select "Vehicle" → "Program Vehicle" → choose your BCB tune file. The flash process takes approximately 3-5 minutes. Keep the engine off but the key in the "ON" position. Do not unplug the device during the flash.
Step 5: Drive and Monitor
After flashing, start the engine and let it idle for 2 minutes. Then drive normally for 50-100 miles to allow the ECU to re-learn its adaptive values. Use the BDX's gauge function to monitor boost, AFR, and knock during this period.
