Manley Forged Pistons & Ring Set — 3.5L EcoBoost
Manley's Platinum Series forged pistons are the standard for serious EcoBoost engine builds. The factory cast hypereutectic pistons are adequate at stock power levels, but once boost pressure and cylinder temperatures climb into 500+ HP territory, cast pistons become the weakest link — cracking ring lands and failing skirts are common failure modes.
These forged pistons are machined from 2618 alloy aluminum forgings, providing dramatically higher fatigue strength and impact resistance compared to cast. The anti-friction coated skirts reduce cylinder wall wear and allow tighter piston-to-wall clearance for quieter cold-start operation. Accumulator grooves behind the top ring improve ring sealing under high cylinder pressure.
The matched ring set is a file-fit design, giving the builder precise control over end gaps for the target power level and application. Each piston is weight-matched within 2 grams and individually serial-numbered for traceability.
